The power and accessibility of modern computers make them incredibly useful tools for almost any Arts-related activity. Whether the student is working in the visual arts and graphic design, film, photography, animation or music, advances in computer technology have now made professional tools available to everyone. We believe it is important that all students become comfortable with using the computer as part of their art practice, so all elements of our Arts Program incorporate a degree of technology use.
In addition to this, students with a specific interest in computers are able to study programming, website design and other computer-specific activities.
While a major and perfectly valid use of the computer is as a personal productivity tool, ISS believes that it can also have a major impact on learning if used to:
Act as a tool to access, retrieve and critically examine information, which can then be positively reconstructed and applied.
Give all students the opportunity to be autonomous users of technology.
Download units of work.
Access curriculum materials and search the Internet for relevant information.
Backup their schoolwork into their personal network areas.
